INITIAL SESSION
The first session is about building a therapeutic relationship, gathering information, assessing your conditions, symptoms, and issues that motivated you to seek therapy and consultation, and exploring the therapy process in a way that would be beneficial to you and your therapy goals. We will discuss together the purpose you are seeking assessment and therapy and the possible recommendations and use of resources as much as exploring the factors in your world that either help or hinder your efforts to manage your conditions and live a content life.You will also be assessing me; deciding whether you feel comfortable, heard, respected and understood, and determining whether the work we are starting to do together seems likely to give you the results you're seeking. Therapy can be short-term, focused on resolving a specific issue or question in your life, or a more open-ended process, focused on increasing self-awareness and personal growth.
Before the first appointment I will send you separate forms including the intake and the consent forms to complete prior to our first appointment.

THERAPY SERVICES
At Fortitude Centre for Wellbeing, we provide psychological assessment and treatment for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families experiencing a range of mental health concerns and life stressors. As part of our commitment to client-centred and evidence-based practice, we begin with a psychological assessment that can help us understand you better, clarify diagnostic issues, collaborate to identify areas of focus based on your goals and values, and guide the development of a personalized treatment plan. Dr. Ostovar provides an integrative approach to therapy using interventions that can address a wide range of mental health challenges. She has training and clinical experience in various treatment modalities, As a psychologist, Dr. Ostovar is trained in different research-supported therapies and her clinical work is informed by the following therapeutic approaches: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Mindfulness-based approaches, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Gottman method for Marriage and Couple Therapy, Pain Management, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PET), Psychodynamic, Motivational Interviewing and Behaviour Modification, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD), Children Play Therapy, Logotherapy, Compassion, and Positive Psychology. Dr. Ostovar will work with you to develop a plan for therapy together.

PAYMENT METHOD
Payment is required at the time of your session. You may pay by a credit card (Visa or Mastercard only, no American Express card or Visa Debit) or e-transfer. If you choose to pay by e-transfer, a credit card is required to be kept on file. If e-transfer payment for a session is not received within 48 hours of your appointment, the fee will be put through on your credit card.

INSURANCE
Many extended health benefits plans cover services provided by Registered Psychologists. Please confirm with your service provider if your plan offers this type of coverage. You will be provided a receipt for the service you receive so you can submit it to your benefits plan for reimbursement. Our center does not offer direct billing.

CANCELLATION AND LATE ARRIVALS
A minimum of 24 hours is required to cancel an individual session without charge. If you need to cancel, please contact our office at 604-349-7060 or email at Fortitudecentre@gmail.com. If your therapist allow online booking, you would be able to cancel and reschedule your session using our online booking system. If a session starts late, it will end at the originally scheduled time with the same fee arrangement as for a full session.
